“స్వాతి కిరణం” సినిమాలోని కొన్ని పాటలని సిరివెన్నెల వారు రాశారు. వాటిలో “వైష్ణవి భార్గవి” అన్న పాట ఒకటి. పూర్తిగా సంస్కృతంలో ఉందీ పాట. ఈ పాట గొప్పతనాన్ని గురించి Orkut Sirivennela community లో మిత్రులు నచకి, PRK, ఇచ్చిన వివరణల సారాన్ని ఇక్కడ పొందుపరుస్తున్నాను.

ఈ పాట నేపథ్యం గురించి సిరివెన్నెల అమెరికాలో విద్యార్థులతో జరిపిన ముఖాముఖిలో (మిత్రుడు నచకి ముఖాముఖి సభ్యుల్లో ఒకరు) చెప్పిన విషయాలు:

“కథాపరంగా 500 సంవత్సరాల నుంచి ఒక ఆచార్యపీఠంలో దాచిన సాహిత్యమది. “ఆరేసుకోబోయి పారేసుకున్నాను” లాంటి లొల్లాయి పదాలు వాడే అవకాశం లేదు. ఆనాటి భాష వినపడాలి, అంతగా దాచుకోదగ్గ భావం కనపడాలి!

…నేను పల్లవిలో ప్రస్తావించిన వైష్ణవి, భార్గవి, వాగ్దేవి ముగ్గ్రమ్మల పేర్లు – అవి శక్తికి ఉన్న మూడు గుణాలకు సూచనలు, మహోపాసకుల నుంచి క్షుద్రోపాసకుల దాకా అందరూ స్మరించే దేవతల పేర్లు. వారాహి, మాతంగి వంటివి క్షుద్రరూపాలు. ఈ మూడు గుణాలు గల దేవతలు అర్థము (ధనం), సత్యార్థము (విద్య/జ్ఞానం), మంత్రము (శక్తి/క్షుద్రశక్తి) ఇచ్చే దేవతారూపాలు.

పూర్తిగా మధురమైనది సంగీతమైతే సాహిత్యము ఆలోచన-అమృతము, హితమైన సత్యముతో కూడి ఉన్నది! “అక్షర” అన్నది “నాశము లేనిది” అన్న అర్థంలో కూడా వాడబడింది.  అలాగే “వర్ణ” అన్నది “రంగు/వర్ణనీయము” అన్న అర్థంలోనే కాక “syllable” అన్న అర్థంలోనూ వాడబడింది.

1. ‘Vaishnavi’ means the one who is related to lord “Vishnu”. Goddess Vaishnavi is the manifestation of the collective spiritual strengths of Mata Maha Kali, Mata Maha Lakshmi and Mata Maha Saraswati. It is described in Durga Sapatshati that the goddess was born as a young girl of extraordinary beauty and strength, out of the collectively pooled ‘Tejas’ of various ‘Devtas’ and three lords Brahma, Vishnu and Shankar.

2. In ancient India, Sage Bhrigu was Vishnu’s devotee. He had married kardama’s daughter Khyati. In answer to the prayer of that couple, Goddess Lakshmi was born as their daughter. Because she was the daughter of Bhrigu, she got the name ‘Bhargavi’.

3. Matangi is the Dark One, a form of Saraswati, incarnated as the daughter of Matang Rishi. He was from the lowest caste known as Chandal, but did not believe in the orthodox caste system and wanted to achieve brahminhood through his karma. Through worship of first Indra and then Saraswati, she became his daughter and was unequaled in her intellect (mati). Thus Matang Rishi gained a reputation to which only brahmins were entitled.

4. Tripurambika: Who is the Mother-Goddess Tripurambika (who represents the stresses in the creative process known Nada, Bindu, and Kala).

Meaning: Music and Literature are the two breasts of Saraswati, the Mother of Learning. One [like honey] is sweet as we drink it; the other yields more and more nectar as we reflect on it [like an ikShu khaNDa i.e., sugarcane piece]

ApAta = descending, rushing upon, at that instant, current moment.
sangItam is descending honey, or honey pouring down. i.e., it can be
enjoyed directly, as is – no need for pre-processing or Alochana
(reflection, thinking, analysis etc.) to enjoy music.

AlochanAt amR^itaM AlochanAmR^itam = upon/due to reflection, amR^itam
Literature is nectar upon reflection. i.e., it is nectar that oozes out only when we reflect on it i.e., ponder over it.
